It just occurred to me to check my browser.

I normally view my TiddlyWikis in Maxthon, which offers an IE7
rendering mode — handy for sites that don't render so nicely on IE8,
but a major spanner if you forget which rendering mode is enabled!
Switching to IE8 rendering seems to fix the display problem on the
centeredTable DIV I got from TiddlyWiki.org — AND allowed me to use
the tableRWrapper solution from TiddlySpot. (@Mike, thanks for that
link! That's exactly what I've been looking for.)

Switching to IE8 rendering also fixes a niggling set of custom
highlights I used in a different tiddler; I'd written that off to a
conflict with the tiddler background colors, since it doesn't happen
in any TW other than that one, but hey — extra sauce on my ice cream!

-----------------

I'm still seeing some strange behaviors, though.

The class "tableRWrapper" doesn't exactly roll off my fingers, so I
tried renaming the class something I'd be more apt to remember and use
on the fly — but neither "floatRight" (possibly because of the
conflict with CollapsedTemplate?) nor "floatThisRight" work as a class
name for the wrapper. (Does the class have to be named "xWrapper" for
this trick to work in TW?)

@cmari: Oddly enough, "floatRight" and "floatThisRight" both work as a
class name if I assign the to the table element like you did
("table.floatThisRight") and then invoke them with "|floatThisRight|k"
at the beginning of my table.

-----------------

Er, I'm new 'round these parts, so if this kind of scintillating up-to-
the-minute breaking-news report of what I'm trying is annoying,
someone please let me know. I just find it easier to use help threads
to keep track of what I've done and not done, if only so that I don't
forget some detail ... .
