Jeffrey,

If your primary objective is fast and efficient management of your
research, rather than developing a TW app, you may want to consider a
topic map tool instead.

PersonalBrain: http://www.thebrain.com/

There are Free, Core and Pro Versions. Easy drag and drop files and
links to topic nodes.

Topicscape: http://www.topicscape.com/

Different visualization interface that takes getting used to, but
cheaper than PersonalBrain.

DeepaMehta: http://www.deepamehta.de/

Free, under development. Nice tool but the documentation is sparse.

There are others if you do a web search.

Good Luck,

SteveM
