I know the feeling I love and have been using Tw for a long time now, though only recently have I gotten into the joys of learning to code JS and JQ with it, at this point I couldn't imagine giving it up... Especially since I have thoroughly looked around at alternatives and the best I could find for my proposes would be DukuWiki &/or Drupal + Server-to-Go which is a very powerful combo for offline applications.
Digressing FireFox 21.0a2 I should probably recommend you not to use, it is an unstable testing build. (insistently I'm now using Firefox 22.0a1, and all seems to be working well, though not as toughly tested as 21) Digressing if you want stable I would strongly recommend staying on the stable branch of FireFox which I think is still 19.0.2 On a different note though, since you only sporadically have issues saving in an otherwise known good setup I would wager that it is likely due to a plugin/extenuation comparability issue in TiddlyWiki or Firefox that could truly be the root causing the issues.
