Looks like IE11 has joined the ranks of browsers that present saving problems for TiddlyWiki Classic.
My browser situation is a bit different from most TiddlyWiki users, so bear with me a moment while I explain. I use an older version of Maxthon (2.5.18.1000 — three or four years old now) for my daily TiddlyWiking. It's from an era before Maxthon came packaged with its own engine and uses IE's Trident engine instead. This also means it inherits IE's Internet Options settings. (Modern Maxthon uses its own Webkit engine by default but can fall back on IE's Trident engine as an alternative for older or Microsoft-quirkier sites — but that's a story for another time.) After upgrading to Windows 8.1 (from Win8), I noticed SharedTiddlersPlugin was no longer working in Maxthon 2.5 — and that I couldn't save my TiddlyWikis. At first, I thought the upgrade may have changed some of the Security or Privacy settings in IE, which this older version of Maxthon inherits. Then I realized I may have gotten the release version of IE11 alongside Win8.1. (I had.) I worked my way through the Security and Privacy settings in IE's Internet Options. Some had indeed been changed, so I reset them to my personal preferences (which haven't changed much since 2008). I also tried different iterations of the handful of new settings I found. No dice. Just to be sure, I checked things out in IE11 directly (not using Maxthon as front-end for Trident) and found the same problems. IE10 saves and parses SharedTiddlersPlugin well on Win7 and Win8, just as it always has — but IE11 is having none of it. — To make matters worse, not only does IE11 fail to save — it also zeroes out an existing TiddlyWiki, leaving me with an empty file with 0 bytes of data. First I get the standard ActiveX warning (screenshots via Maxthon, but the same thing happens — albeit with different alert graphics — in IE11): <http://tiddlywiki.secret-hq.com/group/images/SavingFails1_standardActiveXalert.png> Then I get an alert about an invalid procedure call or argument: <http://tiddlywiki.secret-hq.com/group/images/SavingFails2_InvalidProcedureCallOrArgument.png> Then a "failed to save" alert: <http://tiddlywiki.secret-hq.com/group/images/SavingFails3_FailedToSave.png> ... and a 0B empty TiddlyWiki. The only script error I get is this one: <http://tiddlywiki.secret-hq.com/group/images/scripterror_attachEvent_unsupported.png> ... which I thought at first might related to SharedTiddlersPlugin, but it crops up in TWs without STP installed, too. Using the IE11 dev tools didn't tell me much (except that IE is rejecting the "extra <body> tag" it encounters when loading TWs with SharedTiddlersPlugin — which may be the cause of STP failing to include tiddlers from elsewhere). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group.
