Yes, you can store relative path information.

But it may or may not be possible to access the links in a way you expect. 
eg: If you click a default picture link, it may open it in a new browser 
window. Which is the browser default setting. If you expect this - it's 
fine. If you want to open the pic in a new tiddler or a slideshow, it may 
not work due to security restrictions (depending on your brwoser) :/
