I think you didn't go deep enough in the TW5 getting started guide. One of the first community links is about giving a top bar and a dynamic scheme. That scheme will fill the whole Window if you maximize it. There is also an easy way to move the sidebar to the left side. I can't provide you links right now because I'm writing on my phone, but you can find all that info in TW5 main page.
