If you go to http://tiddlywiki.com and *search* for *Community* tiddler,
there are some more links to pages, that experiment with the TW5
possibilities.

I think tw5toolbar [1] could be of interest for a top menu bar and
modifying the page layout, in some fancy ways.
... since TW5-beta is quite young, all of those sites and the creators
behind them are heavily experimenting. ... changing stuff ... breaking
stuff ... and having fun - I think :)

So I think there are hints for your questions 2 to 6 if you play with
tw5toolbar.

8 .. changing the colors is changing the theme CSS which can be found in
the "shadow" tiddlers tab at the very end of the list.
1 .. bring back the left sidebar is trickier, because you need to change
the PageTemplate and probably a lot of the theme CSS

So I wouldn't start with 1 or 8

The existing ..Template tiddlers contain code, that lets the user change /
add elements by "simply" tag tiddlers in a special way. So adding the left
sidebar should be similar. ... but someone needs to implement it. I'm sure
there is no placeholder code yet.

TW5 contains a lot (*229*) of documentation tiddlers. If you really want to
dig as deep, as it seems, you'll need to read them all. ... not really ;)
.. you may just "scan" those, that are tagged "dev". If they are tagged
"howto, concepts, mechanism, introduction, features, ... " they may be
interesting.

So you may open the - *More: Tags* tab at the right sidebar and have a look
at the tags, that look interesting.
You can open all tiddlers from one tag at once.

If you want to be sure, you saw them all:
 - open the recent tab
 - go to the end of the list and open all tiddlers from "29th November 2013"
 - don't click any links when you read tiddlers. If you do, you'll probably
read some of them twice.
 - If you finished one tiddler, just close it.
 - If everything closed -> open all tiddlers from "30th November 2013"
 - ...

Why in reverse order - I think the most basic stuff was documented at the
beginning and "old" tiddlers seem to be quite stable. Also here - if it
tagged "dev" just scan the tiddler. I know, there is a lot to read but imo
it will be worth it.

---------------
As you see, there is a lot of "high level stuff" missing. Simply because,
nobody did create it, yet. Or we just don't know, how "simple to use" we
can make it:)

In an ideal TW world a new user should not have to deal with widgets eg:
<$list...many many params> and html <div><ul>'s.
They should use macros eg: <<list basic params>> because macros will /
should have a simple to use interface.

The problem is, that there are not many macros yet, since we are still
exploring the possibilities to combine existing widgets. Or we need to find
out, what's still missing. eg: the possibility to have global macros :)

As Jeremy said. Feedback is valuable.
We are still in the early adopter phase, where everyone has the possibility
to influence the development. At the cost of some frustrating moments ;)

have fun!
