I'm very sorry to hear what's happened. My immediate reaction is to add backup creation to the roadmap - I'll make it the first thing I look at for 5.0.9.
Anyhow, since the file has been truncated there may not be much that can be done. The "nwsnapshot" file is a component of node-webkit, the platform on which TiddlyDesktop is built, I'm afraid.
