Hi OK -- I think that works now -- it was all about names. The stylesheet to display the toc must have a name that lists after the base stylesheet for the toc. It appears that tiddlers are parsed in a certain order, and the settings in this stylesheet must over-ride the settings in the base stylesheet (styles must be after.)
Confusing:-/ Don't know if the order of parsing will be consistent -- the behaviour of the button might be erratic.
