That's what I also learned, I think a year ago or so. The modals are, as 
far as I can see, of no use other than displaying some content.

What I wanted to have is a way to edit a tiddler's fields in a modal. So 
the modal-tiddler should be kind of an edit template.

But there really seems to be no way to get information into a modal.
