The whole TW UI is built with the TW widgets. Especially the listWidget has some "super powers" with special filters for almost everything. It completely replaces fETplugin. ... The EditTemlate is pure wikitext. Highly advanced wikitext but mastering it will need some deep diving :) But if you want to add / remove some elements form PageTemplate / ViewTemplate / EditTemplate you probably just need a special system tag.
