The problem is that it's not clear what that behaviour should be; for image links, I'd want to create an external image tiddler with the _canonical_uri field pointing at the link. Similarly for mp3 links. But the problem is that we can't determine the type of the resource identified by a link without loading that resource, which we're unable to do thanks to the browser same origin policy.
