I've found PDF viewing to be particularly buggy in both Firefox and Chrome,
but much better in Safari. In fact, on Safari you can use PDFs as images
and everything works just as smoothly as with SVGs.

I wouldn't recommend embedding PDFs in the standalone TiddlyWiki. Much
better to use them as external images via the _canonical_uri field.
