It's slowly dawning on me now. ^^

Perhaps the "link" bit of the widget name confused me a little, as I was 
thinking in terms of establishing a permanent bond.
However, it's really more a *set* type of action... and yes, that is quite 
useful, indeed.

However, doesn't *$**action-setfield* cater for this very need?
