IMO the easiest way would be: 

Foo bar <code>example code {{!!my_field_name}}</code>

_no_ backticks anymore. the backtick is just a shortcut for the code 
element. 
or you can define a macro like this:

\define code(txt)
<code>$txt$</code>
\end

Foo bar <<code "example code {{!!my_field_name}}>>
