As you found out the $:/Import tiddler is a "temporary" store. So it 
contains a JSON representation of your "accidentally dragged tiddlers" and 
the tiddlers you did drag and drop from the file explorer.. .. .You can 
open the tiddler and delete it, to clean up the accidents. 

I did a short test with tiddlywiki.com and imported a .tid file from my HD. 
.. It worked, as expected. FF 37.0.2 win8.1. 

How do your .tid files look like?
