Thanks for your prompt reply. Cancelling the import operation did indeed 
delete $:/Import, but this did not fix the issue with the lingering 
tiddlers – trying to import a file brings them, instead of the file 
contents, right back into $:/Import. So I guess that their JSON 
representations are stored in some cache elsewhere as well and somehow 
pushed back into $:/Import whenever it is created. Dragging a file onto my 
Wiki did clear this hypothesized cache, however, and now the "Import" 
button works as expected again. Although this workaround did solve the 
problem, I thought you might want to look into it.

The .tid files in question were the three tiddlers comprising Tobias Beer's 
"Taggly" macro. They look perfectly fine with me – a header followed by the 
macro definition and template code, respectively. They also work fine once 
imported through drag and drop.
