c pa,

That is good advice and I should have done that in the first place. I've
now tried TW in Vivaldi and Firefox, both with and without TiddlyFox
active. When I create a fresh version of the file by saving, the search bar
is empty in both browsers. The issue seems to come up when I have my TW as
a pinned tab. If I unpin the tab and reopen the file directly, the search
bar is empty. If I close the browser with TW pinned, then when I reopen the
browser, my last search is in the search bar. No idea why that's happening,
though at least I seem to be getting closer. Thank you for your
suggestions. I don't suppose you have any idea what might be causing the
behavior?

Michael
