I haven't run into this bug yet, if you find a reproducible way to cause it let me know so I can fix it.
If you want a possibly easier way to get rid of the edit lock you can edit the list field of the tiddler $:/state/Bob/EditingTiddlers, it is supposed to hold a list of all tiddlers that are opened in edit mode so that they aren't edited in two places at the same time.
