I had imagined that changing the first line of the macro to the below might 
have done it.
But I may be very mistaken.
[tag[EBook]has[vendor]get[author]$(SortType)$sort{!!sort_by}]
I have not used the *get* operator before, so this may be very incorrect 
help.
