First - I was an early Tiddler guy from way back, have journeyed elsewhere (evernote, my own tools, ...) but now after a decade or more happy to see the community alive and well and found TW5 and started using it 2 days ago. - have been impressed with so much the same but so much is better. After using so many modern tools and coding my own - I can say that TiddlyWiki was made so well on day one that still outshines ( seeing several notes at once, clean DB of one file, able to easily extend cause you can program anything, community to share this programmability at speed). In one day ( yes long day) - I have Twiki up on my owncloud protected server that is shared my win desktop, win laptop, Linux machine at lab, Android (and will try iOS soon) - using tiddlyDesktop pointed to that one twiki - so all local, all backed up but all one file (owncloud) shared WOW!. Impressive - And strong videos/tutorials to get me back to advanced beginner so quick.
Found my old favorites tools strong programmed todo / completed system full gcal calendar sidebar own nested 'contents' as sidebar start for great org tiddlers that grab all my grad students from tags man so many more good filters) cherrypicker plugin so in any note I can put in a statement (todo or any info I want to list in a place) and then have lists built back in a main area where each item has link back to the more info in a full tiddler. links to anything links to local file / folders All great - thanks community!!!! - steve Some quick questions - so what I have not resolved yet ( QUESTIONS) 1) Local links to executables? for local links - I can't execute a program with an exe ( it just does nothing) I can do this file://localhost\E:\jump\hellotest.docx which will open ms word fine but if I try this file://localhost\E:\jump\Search.exe it does not start the program so my workaround is to call a .docx for word or .psd dummy for photoshop but some of my tools have no file association is there anyway to get a .exe or shortcut to one as a link in TW? 2) wikiword completion? I used to have a plugin in classic TW that completed WikiWord for me or brought up a dropdown of current WikiWords or something as I started type ( like linux autocomplete). I like to type where people and things are the wiki words / tiddlers on the fly, yet my memory is not great - so this autocomplete tool really helped Is there any plugins /techniques you would suggest. 3) best resources for learning advanced tricks / scripts /plugins? I noted many of the old pages ( classic wiki) of people that would show and explain the best of the best tricks for noting, organization, todo are gone or old (like the once great tiddlytools.com <http://www.tiddlytools.com/> what are the best new sites for best organisation / script / plugin info to get me good and advanced again currently I have these linked to help me in my HowToTiddly notes ( but want more beyond the basics) * https://tiddlywiki.com/static/A%2520Gentle%2520Guide%2520to%2520TiddlyWiki.html * https://tiddlywiki.com/static/WikiText.html * https://tiddlywiki.com/static/Community.html * https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/tiddlywiki * https://tiddlywiki.com/static/TableOfContents.html * http://www.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk/~mdt26/PWT/hints.pdf * https://dynalist.io/d/zUP-nIWu2FFoXH-oM7L7d9DM are there others you would recommend? thanks again for never giving up - I can attest to leaving trying everything and coming back to such an elegant smart system / community -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group.
