Here's what I think about tables and slices... slice-name: ANY NUMBER OF leading or trailing blanks are ignored and NOT part of the slice name. That is consisitent with sooo many other use cases, first and foremost... tiddler names cannot start or end with blanks either and I think that makes sense.
As for the slice-value, that's a different matter. I would suggest to remove the first and last blank of the slice value, if existing, AS WELL AS CSS DEFINITIONS from the slice-value because their purpose usually is that of cell formatting.
