FNF,
I have no special knowledge but I understand the concern. It is important
that needy people not get lost and the whole community experience doesn't
get degraded as a result. However l feel the dynamics will automatically
prevent that. A once a week hi powered session Is un-likely to replace the
current daily back and forth on most issues. it is not likely that adding a
new direct channel will degrade things overall.

Your point is valuable that we should monitor things. However done right
the hangout should synergistically enhance the whole community. The groups
should feed on each other and solve different problems. The curent list
will continue to handle routine issues with Eric chiming in when it
gets beyond the regular helpers knowledge or if he feels that the addressed
problem is an excellent to clarify something of general interest. Most of
us will stick here because our problems are routine and will continue to be
handled in almost the same way. The difference is that Eric & co are
offering a bigger hammer to address stubborn and intractable issues. It is
also a place to present things in a more traditional subject based
classroom experience. Because key acolytes are bound to hang there they
will become even more in tune when they comeback to handle
my plebeian questions. The best part is that the Hangout sessions will
(hopefully) be captured by google and be a source of master class
discussions you can check out later. I expect they will become a routine
resource.with people creating indexes to the best ones. That's often how
hangouts evolve.
