That's why I'm interested in substituting somewhat narrow solution (Java) with another solution that can also be narrow. My idea is -- there's a bunch server-side solutions out there, GieWiki, TiddlyWeb etc, but I don't know which of them can be used without much effort for local saving (at least on Windows, without an internet connection -- if I'm not mistaken, GieWiki requires that). *Do you guys know such "server" apps?* The main point is the simplicity of installation (like Java) and more reliability, compared to Java.
If you're able to get a working Python installation on your computer or other device, then TiddlyWeb can be made to work. I understand for a lot of people, however, that this can be a bit painful if you're not already on a system that has Python. An internet connection is not required: TiddlyWeb can work perfectly fine from just the one machine and manage multiple collections of tiddlers (some shared between collections) with different access controls for each collection (so if you did have multiple users involved, there would be no problem). -- Chris Dent http://burningchrome.com/ [...] -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWikiDev" group.
