In XTerm window inside VM if you type:  ifconfig  
what does it return?

can you "ping google.com" from XTerm?

PS: I'll probably need to create a system, that works similar to the 
vagrant setup, with NAT and a private host network. (Just didn't know this 
stuff as I did the LiveCD :)
