Mario I think even wrapping each line in a '<p class="custom">' may be effective however a leading period that does the same at render time has a much lower impact visually when editing the text. It would be convenient when typing text just as ; and : # and * are.
I would be fine if this was an optional wiki text character/rule and would be easy to remove if necessary especially with an editor toolbar button.
