Yes, I can start Xorg with no problems.  I'm compiling Xvnc using the
build script included in the repository (xorg-build-7.4).  As previously
mentioned, if I change the configure flags as you recommended, which
statically compiles in 'catalogue:/etc/fontpath.d' and 'built-ins" as a
font path, it doesn't work, nor does statically compiling in
'catalogue:/etc/fontpath.d' as a font path, nor does passing either or
both of those as a -fp argument to Xvnc.  Thus, there is no way for Xvnc
to find the 'fixed' font.  Refer to my previous posts for more details.
