Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: UN*X version Group: 1.0.X Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Gerhard Hintermayer (hintegerha) Assigned to: Adam Tkac (atkac) Summary: high CPU load of X process Initial Comment: I'm using tigervnc1.0.1_p20110618 on a gentoo system (didn't find a 1.1 ebuild :-( ) build with use-flags: server and xorgmodule. Whenever I connect to a running local X-Server via a remote tigervnc (and also different vnc viewer), the load off the Xserver process goes up to nearly 100%. When closing the VNC session, the server load goes back to normal. Pls advice any additional required details of my problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Gerhard Hintermayer (hintegerha) Date: 2011-09-06 17:12 Message: When I directly work on the console, i.e. on the Display/Keyboard/Mouse connected to the local Xorg, running the same applications, there's no such behaviour. But when I takeover the session via vnc, the load of the Xserver goes up. So I assumed this is vnc related. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Adam Tkac (atkac) Date: 2011-09-06 10:21 Message: Thanks for your feedback. Can you please check if you see similar symptoms when you start Xorg without libvnc.so module? This kind of issue is usually bug in the Xorg or in the GTK/KDE frameworks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gerhard Hintermayer (hintegerha) Date: 2011-09-02 12:40 Message: just to be clear - I connect to a local X server with loaded vnc module, not a Xvnc server ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gerhard Hintermayer (hintegerha) Date: 2011-09-02 11:27 Message: Sorry. missed your comment. With just the GDM Greeter or with an empty desktop (Xfce) load looks normal. But as soon as e.g. gkrellm or a browser is run in the session, CPU load goes up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Adam Tkac (atkac) Date: 2011-08-30 13:08 Message: Does this also happen when no application (even no window manager) runs on the Xvnc server? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gerhard Hintermayer (hintegerha) Date: 2011-08-30 08:13 Message: I tried to move to xorg-server-1.10.4, xf86-video-intel-1.16.0 and tigervnc-1.0.1_p20110618-r1, but get the same result. CPU load high (process X) and working remotely has a poor performance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gerhard Hintermayer (hintegerha) Date: 2011-08-29 17:24 Message: I'm using xorg-server-1.10.2 with xf86-video-intel-2.14.0 and xf86-input-evdev-2.6.0. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=1126848&aid=3400194&group_id=254363 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Special Offer -- Download ArcSight Logger for FREE!
