That’s unfortunate. Strong typing helps a lot here, especially because the 
documentation at https://osm2pgsql.org/doc/manual.html is often vague or 
incomplete.

Without types (or at least machine-checkable definitions), it’s easy for 
behavior to drift over time and for subtle breaking changes to go unnoticed. 
Having a way to detect such mismatches would significantly improve 
maintainability and confidence when refactoring or extending the code.
