Hi all,

I think I have finished the new implementation of a [EMAIL PROTECTED] server
far enough, so that we could actually start using it. While there will be very
few client side changes needed, it will require some intervention on the user
side.

So I am inquiring when we should do a switch to the new server. What will be
needed on your side:

- Rather than a home-grown authentication, you will need to enter you regular
osm email/password in authentication.conf
- I will commit some small changes to the client and you will need to do an svn
update (slight change how password/username is transmitted)
- Some URLs in general.conf will change and they should be adapted (although an
svn update should take care of that)

Open issues:
- User statistics will not automatically be transferred as "new" accounts will
be created. Is it important to people to get them to the new server? If yes, I
could do that manually if you ask me (there is no way to map old accounts
automatically to new accounts).
- Things that are still missing:
-checking for recent clients, right now we accept all clients
   -error feedback by clients.

Improvements over old system:
-----------------------------
- Autogeneration of low-zoom tilesets works now. No need to upload lowzoom
tilesets.
- An upload always needs to fulfill a full layer tileset. Open requests can
then mark that layer as done. Previously it was an all or nothing (you
satisified a request when uploading any z12 tile I think)

Would for example, this weekend (Sunday) be a good time to switch?
