I fail to see how downloading the few tiles yourself and cropping a few pixel 
away makes it much more expensive than fetching one big image. It should 
basically be the same. In any case, MapOf is supposed for people who want to 
have one nice picture for their web page, it's not the mobile app map 
displaying source.

I repeat: MapOf is quite expensive on the server, compared to fetching tiles.
