Hey, you just said you are in the process of getting a new server with
plenty of disc space ;-)

We don't need to go overboard with that.  There can be a lot of
information stored in 1 KB.  I would start with the OSM data
timestamp, username and client-id.  We could also store X, Y, Z and
layer so we don't need to rely on the filename to convey that
information.
