Looks good. Maybe add complete (dashed) borders instead of crosses at the
corners?
But the basic idea is very useful!

Subject: [Tilesathome] New layer showing oceantiles.dat content?

Hi,

as I have already found some bogus tiles that are wrongly rendered as land/sea
I thought: Why not overlay the oceantiles.dat info in the slippymap?

So I did a little more hacking on mod_tile.c. It now detects a special
layername and delivers images suitable as transparent overlay that represent
the info in the oceantiles.dat file. Well, this is for layer 12 only.

See a screenshot of my first non-crashing version attached.

If you like that I can clean up the patch and images :-)

What do you think?

Cheers, Martin.
