I think we had this before and people complained that Barcelona downtown became unreadable due to all the pubs, etc. > To solve the issue of what zoom level features should appear on in a > way that will work both for sparse and dense areas we really need a > way to render features only if the area is sparse enough - so that a > hamlet with a few houses around a pub will get the pub rendered on > maybe z14, while a pub in the middle of london gets suppressed until > z17 or even 18 (if we ever figure out a way to sanely store z18) Isn't this possible with the horizontalProximity="0.8" verticalProximity="0.6" rules already now? Only disafvantage is that it will ambiguously suppress *some* pubs. Pubs on the other hand would be a nice candidate for a POI overlay layer that can be switched on/off. We could afford some more clutter then. spaetz _______________________________________________ Tilesathome mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tilesathome
