Unless you expect many users to fiddle with that option it is sufficient to put in in config.defaults and to document it in there. Then, users can still override it in their tilesAtHome.conf if they need to. IMHO, in the .linux and .win templates should only be options that most (every) users need to set or that need to be different in Windows and Linux.
