I'm a bit afraid of forcing a too high setting as a default. That might cause problems on machines with only little RAM. Having the setting documented in the conf would be fine for me. Linux users should be used to configure programs using a text editor, so no big issue there. For Windows: What about having the installer set the option depending on the amount of RAM the user has... I always wanted a reason to have a closer look at NSIS. But this is priority B. Once tah is working again I'll have a look at the broken installer. Maybe I'll be able to fix it. Then looking further.
