We could achieve those results by also installing a mapnik server on the
t...@h server (although I don't know how well it would fare in that job,
being a bit short on RAM for that) and use user controlled style sheets
for that.

I just have to say, that I have never done that (install mapnik) and
would probably not be able to do it either (given my lack of time and
experience).

Given that we have a few TB of downloads each months, I would say the
service is still appreciated by many.
