That depends on the type of desync. It could even be that we fetch the area from XAPI, then the client detects the incomplete Multipolygon, and downloads that, but in the meantime the same XAPI has been updated. Generally it depends on which version of the referenced objects the dupe-merging code will preserve. referenced objects added or deleted should not be a problem. moved nodes could be a problem, if there were significant changes. changed tags on referred objects could lead to problems like duplicate rendering of labels.
