Hi Felicity, Don't give up hope! Two years ago we adapted all the TILT modules, and just took out the parts that require php and MySQL. (At the time neither our server nor my brain supported php). There were only three of us to do the work (in our "spare time"), no tech support. All we knew was HTML and a smattering of javascript. We were hand-coding in text files when we started, but we've since imported everything into Dreamweaver -- which we just love! You can take a look at our revised modules at www.clark.edu/Library - select TILT from the left bar. The biggest thing we lost by going "simple" was the ability to keep a database of students -- students just go through the modules and turn in a printout of the quiz. Even as-is, it's proven to be so popular that I'm learning php and MySQL so I can eventually add re-enhancements. We were fortunate in that we were able to meet with another librarian who (with tech support) had adapted the full TILT -- she was able to let us know what we would NOT be able to use without php and MySql. I don't have any documentation, though. Good luck! Kitty Mackey Reference & Instruction Librarian Cannell Library, Clark College Vancouver WA ________________________________

It's a lot more complicated than I realized! Your web server will also need to have MySQL installed. Once you have these things in place, you can extract the zip file and upload the files to a directory on a web server. Next, you will need to create a MySQL database and make the appropriate entries in the TITL .inc file. You will also need to change all of the absolute URLs in the code to the URL you are using. There are some directions available on the TILT site. Follow the resources for educators link. To install this, you need to have some familiarity with web server administration, database management, html, and php. I don't mean to scare you off-this can be done, but it takes some of the skills I listed above to make TILT work. The program was really not designed with other sites in mind. ________________________________ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Hanson, Felicity Sent: Tuesday, June 29, 2004 11:00 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Getting started in DreamWeaver An update to my earlier plea for help: I have pulled the TILT program into Dreamweaver, and I think I will be able to put the tutorial together there. Does that sound right to you experts out there? I still wouldn't mind being pointed to some documentation if any exists.
