Friction plays a large role in impact to launch angle. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of buehl Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2007 9:20 AM To: Discussion of precise time and frequency measurement Subject: Re: [time-nuts] OT: Not pendulums or atomic clocks or gravity
Try this low tech analysis on for size. Inertia at work: The ball is elastic and compresses sufficiently that all the kenetic energy is changed into potential energy; Center of mass having moved only slightly due to inertia. At this time the compression is concentrated between the center of mass and the face of the club, along a line normal to the surface. This potential energy is then converted back into motion (kenetic energy) and the direction of this motion is normal to the club surface. Very different than a light beam or wavefront reflecting off of a surface.
