Also look at John Ackerman's stuff: http://www.febo.com/geekworks/data-capture/index.html His approach is quite a bit smarter than mine, in that he uses completely-different processes for acquisition and display. If you would prefer to learn a lot of smaller tools versus coding everything yourself in C/C++, John's methods are really nice. Realistically, that's a better way to go for most people.
