Also, space qualified GPS must handle the larger doppler shifts due to the relative spacecraft velocity. A "standard" GPS will not work, it is necessary to modify the algorhytms. Karl, if you know nothing about GPS, possibly it's best to start reading a tutorial, like http://www.trimble.com/gps/index.shtml - the amount of information to digest before putting a GPS receiver on a spacecraft is huge.
