Hi, Wasn't following this one "real-time" but there is a useful trick used on 
aircraft instruments wit soldered cases. They put a ring of tinned copper wire 
in the joint before they solder it, leaving a "tail" sticking out. Next time 
you want to open it, you just pull the wire out (cold) and it brings the solder 
with it. It also provides a good surface and heat spreader when you are 
soldering. The aircraft cans have space left for the wire, but many pressed 
cans have a radius that helps or push the end in below flush.
