That sounds like your indoor antenna is the problem. I have had very poor luck with indoor antennas. Even my outdoor antenna is rather bad... too many very big trees.
I get constant satellite constellation changes (sometimes several times a minute). My first self survey took three days to complete. Where my antenna is now, I can complete a survey in a couple of hours (but at only a couple of times each day). Also many GPS receivers tend to have a hard time starting up when they have not been used for a while. It takes a long time for the oscillator to stabilize enough to work properly. I had a tbolt that had not been used for a couple of years.
