What effect upon measurements does the new front end have over that
of the 5370A?
The input changes affected the /1 input dynamic and operating ranges.
100 mV - 1.0 V / -2.5 - 1.0 V p-p vs. 100 mV - 4.0 V / -4.0 - 4.0 V
p-p.
Does it mean significantly less jitter in the measurements? If so over
what window of measurement time?
The trigger error specification is the same for both.
They're basically the same as far as accuracy, although for TI the "A"
is specified with 700 ps systematic error, while the "B" is 1 ns. For
frequency, the "B" multiplies trigger error by 1.4 (the "A" does not).
I have no idea if that reflects a change for the worse with the "B," or
just a recognition of reality.
Also, has anyone tried replacing the A model front end boards with
those of the B model?
The "B" A3/A4 input boards appear to be shared with (or at least based
upon) that used in later 5345A counters.
