All you 16500 logic analyzer users out there may or may not know that the
machine only works with Quantum Fireball disk drives with less than 2 gig
capacity. The analyzer firmware issues some undocumented IDE commands during
the boot sequence. You also may or may not know that those early Quantum disk
drives are not known for their reliability.
I have finally found some 2 gig INDUSTRIAL GRADE compact flash cards that work
with the 16500 analyzer. Most CF cards will either not be recognized (e.g.
Advantest), or will format but flake out when accessed (e.g. SanDisk,
Samsung).
I can ship you a card, formatted and loaded with the latest OS and symbol
utilities, mounted in a IDE adapter for $40 in the US. Overseas will probably
run around $50 You will need a T10 and T15 Torx driver to install it.
