I don't have a 4501 so I'm guessing:  A common problem is that the
memory card is to large.  Or more precisely the card has a FAT32 files
system written on it and the device can only read a FAT16.  I've run
into this problem a few times

It's not hard to set up a boot server on whatever computer you use for
normal work then you keep the files you need there where they are easy
for you to modify and you never have to write them to a card and walk
the card over.
