Set up to do it in the basement - yes Would I buy one - I'm afraid I don't fully understand your question, but I routinely buy and solder 0.5mm spacing TQFPs (counts as yes?) Would actually do it in a reasonable amount of time - define reasonable :) but yes, quite fast...
