Rick,

I took a listen the other night and did not hear the beat. Tonight my wife and I went out for a little sustenance, just to maintain life, of course. On the way to the restaurant I tuned my car radio to 940. At first I didn't hear any beat, but then it faded in and was quite loud. On the way home I could hear it but it was much weaker. When I got home I could not hear it in our driveway nor could I hear it on my HP-3586B using either an outside dipole or my Palomar loop antenna inside. I could hear KYNO quite well, though. I will try it tomorrow evening, but a bit earlier. By the way, I used to own KNYO in Inyo Kern, not to far from KYNO as the radio waves go.

There is a severe beat note problem on KYNO, 940 kHz, but the
beat note is around 500 Hz, and I believe it varies somewhat
from night to night. Does anyone know what station this could
possibly be that is so far off frequency?
