Somehow I was hoping someone might ask.
The following was sent to me by Stu, K6YAZ. If
you are not familiar with this HP-3586x test, you
should acquaint yourself with it. Apparently
this can be run on any of the HP-3586s the A, B, or C versions.
Enter the following from the front panel:
Recall, decimal point, CENTR FREQ, 8 and then wait.
According to the manual this is the receiver test.
The numbers that fly by are the Gain Tests of various stages:
1.0 - 1.11 RF Gain
2.0 - 2.13 I.F. Gain
3.1 - 3.2 Detector Counter
4.1 4.32 Flatness in 1 MHz steps
5.0 Audio Test
Pay close attention to the Audio Test from the
speaker and the front panel lights during the audio test.
This test by itself is reason enough to own one
of these versatile and wonderful instruments.
